Families and SRE Worker (part-time)
Come help us reach a new generation of young families in our area. Pymble Anglican Church is seeking a Families and SRE Worker with a passion for relational outreach and discipleship, spanning our SRE program and the mid-week life of our church. This holistic approach aims to connect with local children and their parents through teaching SRE and hosting a dynamic mid-week Parents Group at our church. In the context of these relationships, the Families and SRE Worker will then seek to introduce Jesus Christ and invite further exploration of the Christian gospel in one-to-one or small discipleship groups.
The Role includes the following ministries:
- Launch and grow a mid-week Parents’ Group at St Swithun’s, possibly using the Mainly Music model (or similar).
- Teach Primary School SRE at Pymble Public School (2 Classes per week, Wednesday afternoons).
- Coordinate the SRE teaching team and program at the school. This work includes coordination of Safe Ministry documentation and SRE Training requirements with the Senior Minister or his delegate.
- Develop intentional discipleship relationships among parents of younger children. This would include regular meetings using the One-2-One (or similar) Bible reading tool.
This role would be the equivalent of 2 days per week, permanent part-time. An additional half day per week is available:
- Lead a group at our Sunday morning ‘Swiz Kids’ (K-6) program. This team is led by our Children’s and Youth Minister and operates concurrently with our 10:30am Contemporary Families Congregation.
The Families and SRE Worker reports to our Children’s and Youth Minister. As a member of St Swithun’s staff, the worker would be invited to participate in our weekly Staff Meetings— 40% attendance, in line with part-time capacity.
Qualifications and Experience
- The Families and SRE Worker will be an active and committed Christian with SRE Teaching experience. Youthworks accreditation requirements for SRE Teaching in NSW Public Schools must be current, or completed prior to commencement. This includes Safe Ministry Training.
- Theological education from a recognised educational provider is preferred, such as completion of a Certificate level course at Youthworks College. Alternatively, the candidate would be willing to commence such studies.
- Previous experience coordinating a Mother’s Group is preferred.
- Experience in meeting up with other Christians in a one-2-one disicpling relationship is desirable.
