Special Religious Education

Special Religious Education (SRE) plays a vital role in the holistic education of children, helping them form personal moral and ethical frameworks and nurturing their faith while at school. In the process, they also discover more about the values and beliefs underpinning much of the history, laws and values of Australia. For many children, it is the only opportunity they’ll have to explore the scriptures and have their spiritual questions answered from the Bible. That’s why St Swithun’s is strongly committed to supporting the work of SRE in Pymble Public School.

We have a great team of dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who are authorized to teach on behalf of the Anglican Church. They have all had training in child development, classroom management and using the authorised curriculum and have met the official accreditation requirements. Our teachers are required to participate in ongoing development each year and receive support and advice from accredited trainers from Youthworks.

All our teachers completed the Working with Children Check required by the Government of NSW and the ongoing training in Safe Ministry required by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.
