Suffering can be a very lonely experience where we think that we are all alone, that the faithful God has left us. But not so, as the Psalmist writes. Suffering is the normal Christian experience but how we respond to it can be a blessing and encouragement to others, even if God does not remove the affliction as we would like. Suffering can be our signpost to others of the future God has promised. We learn today from this songwriter how precious and timely is God's Word in the midst of adversity. The one who can sing this song of suffering and faith is the supreme sufferer himself, our Lord Jesus Christ.
