Our vision at St Swithun’s is to be a church that welcomes, nurtures and serves the local community. Our Mainly MusicTM group seeks to do that by providing a welcoming and nurturing space in which:
~ you can connect with your young one
~ your child can connect with music and more
~ you can connect with others who are at the same life stage
~ you and your child can connect with the God-part of your life
~ you can connect with one of your local churches
While Mainly MusicTM is great fun, a lot of thought has gone into making it a time that enhances children’s preschool education. Our mornings include a winning mix of music, rhythm, rhyme, dance and free play. The fact that Mainly MusicTM has spread from New Zealand in 1990 to local churches all around the world is some indication that the programme is ticking the right boxes with children and carers alike.
The format is very simple for the children: there’s a 30 minute interactive session of music, song and dance followed by plenty of time to enjoy a healthy morning tea and free play with the toys provided. The format is also very simple for parents and carers: they join in with the fun of the music programme then – all being well! – relax over a coffee and some tasty home baking while the children play.
As a local church we strive to be a place where people find spiritual nurture. But we also want to be a place where people find community, friendship and a helping hand through the tough times. Besides being happy to help explore the God-part of life, our staff are available to discuss practical assistance such as marriage ceremonies, baby dedications, counselling, funerals and other needs.
